Internships

INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE
WITH INDEPENDENT
DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FILM COMPANY

River Films, is seeking interns for our current documentary project, QUESTIONING FAITH, directed by award-winning filmmaker Macky Alston. Alston's last film, FAMILY NAME was a Sundance winner and was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Documentary.

His current film, QUESTIONING FAITH is a high profile documentary scheduled for national broadcast beginning January 2002. Our main office is located near Columbia University. We are currently in post-production.

Our film explores faith in the face of tragedy, discovering how anyone-from Buddhist to Christian, atheist to Orthodox Jew-can find meaning when life's more devastating challenges leave them feeling that absolutely nothing makes sense. By telling stories of faith struggle from many perspectives, QUESTIONING FAITH offers an opportunity for people and communities of different faiths to understand each other as well as provides an occasion for people of all faiths to build a larger community.

Specifically, we are looking for interns to work with us in distribution, music rights and archival research. Prior office and/or film experience is helpful. Applicants should enjoy research, have excellent organizational abilities as well as a facility with written and oral communication and be computer literate. The opportunity to gain valuable hands-on, non-coffee-making experience for future film or social service work is significant for those who are good self-starters. Women and people of color are especially encouraged to apply. Hours can be flexible to accommodate other work needs. School credit arrangements are available.
